Well, we started our animation today and it was really good. It took a long time to do this part and we didnt get through the whole lot in the hour we were given. Im gonna put the link on here for the unfinished version but hopefully we can break into the computer room for some more editing next week.

Animation is a really good activity for pupils to do, it links to lots of different topics and subjects. Literacy is the most obvious one however it links very well to history, georgraphy, PSHE, music and drama. It can also be used to support numeracy if done correctly. Animation can also be used to support and assess pupils speaking and listening skills, they are working together as a group discussing ideas and taking different roles in the group.
During my previous school experience I worked with a group of year 2 pupils to produce a snowman dance based on their Litracy topic 'The Snowman'. They became very excited when we attemped it and became very difficult to have a group of them working around a table. This can be solved by working with animation more often and allowing the pupils to investigate the program to understand it further.

I like your animation :) ours took ages to make too, an hour and a half i think. It started to get a little bit frustrating! we would have to have short storylines when working with children!
ReplyDeleteI don't like our animation, I love it! Although I think like Lisa said, with children you would need to have a shorter storyline as it took us about 1 1/2 hours to film 1.40 mins of animation and we have only completed 3 of Henry VIII's 6 wives! I think that some children with short attention spans may struggle as it is quite a tedius process as you only seem to move things a mm at a time.
ReplyDeleteI think a way to cope with this would to be splitting the class into groups. if you took around 6 pupils at a time and worked with them for half an hour each then they would be able to all be involved and also not to get bored. they could also probably have more than one go at it which would keep them excited
